Don't get me wrong I always liked having an original species, but I don't feel as if my species should be 100% closed since I never have the time to work on everything like other people do.
My grater passion for designs is ONE-OFFS as you can see I love one offs because people can be more flexible with those designs with not as many rules as closed species do so that's why there is more of those than my original species.

I want people to have fun with my species but I don't want them to have to pay for one with a very inactive community??? Sooo let me know what you think, should I make them semi open or not?

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
For mantasharks you can have fun with their basic traits such as their horns,tentacles, tails, an slight wing shape modification. Elemental, blood mutants, and hybrids are off limits though. (mantasharks don't have a visual trait chart yet so you'll have to get the ideas from regular batches i've made)
I may be giving out my recent mantashark base for free once the decision is made!
As for mantafae You can use any common and uncommon traits~  kemikel.deviantart.com/art/Man… manta-meadows.deviantart.com/a…   Note: mantafae ears have been updated to these manta-meadows.deviantart.com/a… but you can still draw the classic ones
And sorry you will not be allowed to sell adopts of them, they are for you to make for yourself only and friends, gifting and trading will be fine however but don't get carried away.
I've got a bit of a question before I get to designing! :0
What are the general height ranges for mantafaes and mantasharks, and how much can their body types vary? Are they also an open universe species? (like i could take a mantashark/fae, and have 'em interact with another alien species all fine and dandy)
Also!! on the topic of sizings, would the small, chibi-like mantasharks be considered off-limits for our MYOs? (the ones that were originally meant to be "mini-mantasharks" but became just chibis!)
-Mantafae are deer sized but compared to some adult mantasharks they do look a bit small.  Mantasharks can grow to about the size of a large van. Some rarer ones get much bigger.
-Their body types do vary from lean to masculine to chubby and smaller sizes (I think the size of a large dog is the max i'd do for a small sized one)  Long serpent like bodies are not allowed at the moment though. I may try to make a myo safe version of it where the body is not too long.
-Mantasharks and fae already live in the same world together but I imagine some other creatures interacting with them too.
-As for the chibi mantas. I canceled "Mini-Mantasharks" and replaced them with these a long time ago  Custom manta for occultic by Kemikel  They are currently off limits for myo creation and can only be obtained from Customs,Auctions, and special MYO design trades.
Everything is fine except for the dorsal fin on the tail. They are able to have one on their classic tail but it's very small and near the end of their tail like these  Crybaby Mantasharks [CLOSED] by Kemikel
also I know their horns might be hidden in their hair but don't forget to add them at some point even if they are super tiny  [Mantasharks] Horn traits by Roulion  some day in the future you might be able to win a rare trait to get rid of the horns all together if you don't like them.
So, if I've got this right, we can make our own mantashark now? For free? I mean, yknow, so long as it isn't an elemental, blood mutant, or hybrid?
So we're allowed to use any horn from the trait sheet, right? Also, is sparkling/glittery skin allowed?
only common and uncommon ones~  Glitter skin is allowed as it is only an uncommon trait.
yes that is ok, although I would have preferred more natural markings on them. The trees are fine but they are a bit too detailed such as the highlighted markings behind them and defined shapes. That would almost never happen in the wild without having some sort of mutation. If the tree was a little less detailed it would be fine even with the highlight markings.
I'll let it slide however so you don't have to change it.
approved~
I'll be thinking about it.
On the upcoming trait sheets on my alt account I'll have to make a new tier for traits so that I won't be devaluing some rare traits and making them too easy to get.
other than that the more rarer traits will go to events like DTA's, or raffles!
I'm just?? So happy that this is semi-open now because Mantasharks have been my all-time favorite original species ever since I first found them on accident while looking for a different species and now that I can actually make my own it's just so cool. I've always wanted to buy one from you, but I've just never had the money to because of my horrible impulse buying habit :") The price of a Mantashark has always been reasonable and affordable, so even though they're semi-open now, I'll still keep a lookout for your flawless designs (because nobody can beat a Kemikel Mantashark)!
I think the idea of having a kind of workshop where people can purchase individual rare/etc traits for their Mantas is a really good idea though. The semi-open species Mocchin have that as an option sometimes (every month or so) and it's really successful and well-liked. ; w ;)
Ah how kind of you Kemikel to make them semi open, these two have always been dreamy of mine and i'm sure you hear it all the time but  I just wanted you to know that i'm very much appreciate all the kindness you give even though some just trade away designs like fader.
Anyway I've got a few questions if you don't mind answering.
Ok so mantafae's, on there old sheet it shows they can either have paws of hooves and we can draw them with there old style or new ears?
So would it be ok to make one with hooves and one without, same with the ears (Only two in total).
Another question is how many forms do Mantasharks have?
Reply
:iconkemikel:
Kemikel Featured By Owner Apr 5, 2017  Hobbyist Digital Artist
I'd highly prefer you draw mantafae with their newest anatomy because I got in trouble with them a long time ago with their old anatomy. (you can check out my recent batches to see the newer anatomy)
The ears and neck are fine to go back to the old style but the hooves are rare and can't be used on "free to make" ones.
And mantashark have several forms
-Anthro (humanoid anthro/and a more natural looking one to their species  Mantashark anthro [Flatsale - OPEN] by Roulion
-Merfolk
-Centaur
there was one more form but I ended up throwing it in my storage //it wasn't super important anyways
